Sweetgum

It is a tree up to 40m-height and 2 m diameter with a brown-reddish wood exported with the name of satin-finish walnut used in cabinet making, barrel industry and plating.

The balsamic resin known as "styrex"or "storax" is used in pharmacy and perfumery is produced by this tree by bark abrasion ,though a higher production comes from the oriental type mentioned as follows. Leaves of 10-15cm length with 3-7 lobule are similar to ones of maple tree but they are alternate; the yellow-greenish flowers form spherical small racemes and fruits seem burs of 2-3 cm diameter hanging of a pendulum of 4-5 cm length. The gray and rugose bark has fissures and deep aristas. Its autumn color is magnificent with great variance in the different samples: ones are entirely crimson, others have different green, red and golden tones. They are planted on squares and gardens due to their coloration.

These trees from seeds were planted in seedbeds, regenerated in soils and in special flowerpots to privilege the radicular system.

Summer color:brilliant green.

Autumn color: red, deep red, red-yellowish according to the different phenologic states of the tree.

They produce high quality wood.
