 Pinyon
The pinyon with its great crown like a sunshade together with the common cypress, are the typical trees of the Mediterranean landscape, from Portugal to Minor Asia. Besides its shape, the special characteristics are its big cones ovoid or almost spherical, hard and brown, of 10-13 cm long by 8-10 cm wide, with great round scales that contain the tastiest and biggest pine nuts. The robust needles, of 12-15 cm long, are grouped in pairs, and the dark bark is fissured and has reddish patches.
